Romans 8:34-35 ( NKJV )
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
This week has been all about God’s opinion of you and me. What does He really think about us. This is the most important opinion in our long list of relationships. We are molded as people by the opinions of others. Our goal is to begin to let the opinion of God override all other opinions, so we can be re-molded according to that reality.
So far we have learned that God is for us. He likes us. We have learned that God has placed a high value on you by offering up the sacrifice of Jesus. If you were worth that much to God, you can never say you are worthless again. Along with that, because God values you so highly, Romans 8:32 says He will give you all things. As parents we invest in college to give our children a chance at success. God will invest in you to give you success. Yesterday we learned that God thinks there is nothing wrong with us. That doesn’t mean we are perfect and that God isn’t still working on us. However, because He paid the price to justify us, He sees us as good. Your are not a bad person you are considered by God a good person. That knowledge, when applied, will allow us to be free to live that way.
Today I want to add two other thoughts that God has about you. As you read the above verse, there is a statement that is not talking about the Father, but Jesus. It says he is our “Intercessor” at the right hand of God. Jesus is our Lord and our Savior, but he is also our older brother. He is called the first born from the dead. If there is a first born there is a second born, third born and on and on. The bible also says we are “joint heirs” with Christ. Both statements can only point to Jesus as our older brother. Why is this significant? Not only does our Father have a high opinion of us, but our older brother is right there pulling for us. Praise God!
It says Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding for you. Even when you blow it Jesus is right there to tell the Father, He or she is OK. I died for them, they are going to make. Charge that sin to my account, Father. They are worth it. Jesus is quite an advocate to have in our corner. No sibling rivalry here. Just an almighty Father and His first born in agreement that you are a good investment.
The other thought I want you to remember throughout your day is this. Nothing can separate you from the Love of God. Nothing. Not things, not people and most important, not even yourself. You will never do anything to make God stop loving you. You may do something to displease Him. But, unlike some others in you life, God does not stop loving you when He is displeased with you.
He will always have a good opinion of you. If you fail, He will be there to help you get on track. If you need correction He will give it. Hebrews 12 even says God scourges, or whips the ones He loves. He may need to give you a bit of a “whippin” at times, but that won’t cause Him to stop loving you. As a matter of fact it is proof He does love you and cares enough to keep you on track for success.
