Romans 8:37-39 ( NKJV )
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We want to look once more at these powerful verses from the book of Romans.  So far we know that God thinks enough of us to be for us, that He highly values us, and that He is willing to invest in our success.  We also know that God looks at us as being good not bad and that our older brother is on our side and speaking to the Father on our behalf.  Finally we have discovered that there is nothing nor anyone that can make Him stop loving us.  Even we can’t do anything to keep Him from loving us.  That is God’s opinion of you.  What were all those other opinions again?

In the next three verses we find another opinion that God holds of you and a truth that results from all these things.  First, God sees you as capable.  You can do all things.  Now this is not in your own strength, that is understood.  We need God’s strength, but the assumption is that you have it.  He has entrusted you with it.  He sees you as capable.

Many people have been told all their lives what they can’t do and it has crippled them from every rising up.  Life itself can give us this message in no uncertain terms.  God looks at you and says, “Son (or daughter) I know you can do it.  I will help you do it.  You can do anything you need to or want to.”  When faced with a trial you need to hear the voice of your Father saying, “Hang in there.  Keep going.  You can do it.”  That is what He believes.  Don’t let a voice from your past, the experiences of life or even your own heart tell you anything different.

When you hear, “You can’t do this.”, tell the voice that it will have to discuss it with your Father because He thinks you can.  Furthermore you have His help to get over the parts that may be too difficult for you.  No wonder Paul started this discussion with, “If God be for us, who can be against us.”

The final verses in this chapter are Paul’s conclusion to God’s opinion of Him.  Let me quote it from the New Living Translation.

38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God loves you and His opinion of you is guided by that love.  Nothing in life can separate you from that love.  When the “fears for today” or “our worries about tomorrow” become overwhelming you need to remember that.  When the opinions of others or even you own opinion of yourself rise up to bring you down, remember God’s opinion of you.  Those other opinions will look small in comparison.
