Deuteronomy 8:6-10(NKJV) 6“Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. 7For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you.

As the people of Israel are about to enter the Promised Land, Moses gives them some keys they must develop if they are going to successfully occupy their destiny. These keys apply to our promised prosperity as well. The first key is the necessity to live Godly lives. The second key is that we must look at trying times as an opportunity for God to give us victory and not as a time to grumble, complain or give up.

Today we will look at the third key. In today’s scripture, God describes to Israel the land he is bringing them to. This is a land of abundance in every way. It is a land where every need Israel could have will be met. In the last verse, God reminds them it is a land he is giving them. They did not earn it. They did not work for it. It is the blessing of God.

One of the most common tactics the devil uses against us is to tell us things will never change. We know the promises of God. We know that God said he will bless us, but the wear and tear of life often causes us to lose the sense of possibility that we need in order to possess the blessing. We mentally agree with the idea of God prospering us, but we do not really expect him to do it. We will never prosper with that mindset.

God reminds Israel that the land he is giving them is a good land. We need to reminded ourselves that God is a God of his Word. If he said in Philippians 19 that he would meet all of our needs, he will. If he said in 2 Corinthians 9 that he would bless us abundantly if we sow abundantly, than he will. Look at these verses from the same chapter.

2 Corinthians 9:10-11(NKJV) 10Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

God promises to give us seed, bread, to multiply our seed and increase the fruits of our righteousness. In the 11th verse, he makes a very strong statement. He wants to enrich us in everything. Now the purpose is so that we can give and that God will receive thanksgiving. However, he promises to enrich us in all things. This is our promised land.

Divine prosperity comes to us by faith. If we are going to walk in it, we must “sell out” to God’s promise. We must believe that God is bringing us to this place of blessing. The problem with the first generation of Israelites is they could never do that. They knew the promise. They saw God move on their behalf but they never quite accepted that God was going to give them the Promised Land. They never quite believed they would ever possess Canaan.

In the end, God even showed them it was exactly what he said it was. He sent 12 spies into Canaan and they all came back in agreement on one thing. The land was everything God said it was. Ten of them could not accept that God would give it to them. The obstacles were too great. Two of them had a different point of view.

Numbers 14:6-8(NKJV) 6But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’

Joshua and Caleb saw the same land that the other 10 saw. However, they saw it through the eye of faith. They knew the obstacles were great, but the only thing that mattered was what God had said. He said they could take the land, so they could take it.

You may have obstacles that tell you it is impossible for God to bless you. Instead of looking at those obstacles, you need to look at the promise. That will cause you to focus on what God said he would do instead of what you cannot do. He wants to bless you. He wants to enrich you in everything. That is all that matters.

The second generation was raised on the words of Joshua and Caleb. They were reminded consistently that God had promised them a prosperous land. Yet when it came time for them to enter in, Moses had to remind them again. We must realize that to maintain a vision for divine prosperity we need to look consistently at God’s promises. If we do not, the obstacles of life will drain our faith and we will stop expecting God to bless us.

God has a wonderful land for you. Believe it! Trust him to bring you into it. Do not let the obstacles or disappointments of life tell you it will never happen. Read the promises of God’s blessing. If you are struggling right now, that is even more reason that you need to go to the word and build faith to receive the blessing. He is a God of his word and you will not be dissapointed.

The third key to divine prosperity is that you must believe God is bringing you into a wonderful promised land.
